Very early in the spring of 2023 I hiked the GR5A. That is a walking route around Flanders, good for 600 kilometers of enjoyment of mud and rain and
wind and snow so early in the year, and beautiful nature and culture.
Then I hiked from my home in Belgium to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Santiago is an important Christian pilgrimage site, and the many roads leading there are packed with a very rich history and culture. My route was also good for about 3000 kilometers of absolute freedom and breathtaking nature.
After arriving in Santiago I walked a few hundred kilometers back towards France. The plan is to start from the exact point where I stopped this year, in the spring of 2024, hiking to Rome and Assisi in Italy, and then hiking back to my house in Belgium this time.
